Special Needs Student Crowned Prom Queen, Gets Record Votes


Oregon student has an amazing smile.

Katie Shipley, a senior in highschool with a developmental disorder, was voted prom queen. Shipley received 200 votes from her classmates on Saturday. This is a record number in the history of her school, according to NBC.

"I had the most votes in school, in the whole world," Shipley told KGW. "They made me feel happy."

In the mid 1900s, Betty Soskin worked as a file clerk for a boilermakers union. When she turned 85 she decided to join the National Park Service.

The 93 year old guides tourists around Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Park five days a week. Soskin has her own personal story to tell, in addition to other woman who played roles in supplying the war.
