A 17 Year Old Pole Vaulter Gets Bronze at the State Championship

Pole vaulting is hard enough as a sport. Imagine not being able to see anything, but still become a pro a the sport.

Charlotte Brown became in love with the sport before her vision was reduced drastically. The way Brown describes it, "jigsaw puzzle of light and dark shades."

Although Charlotte had a hard time seeing, she found a way to overcome her situation so she could compete.

According to Brown, she is able to count the seven steps of her left foot as she approaches the mat. A beeper is also in place to go off at the same exact time. Once this happens she knows to start pushing upwards.

Brown worked her way from eighth place all the way down to fourth.
